Roundup
Helen Jubb visited us and explained about her job as a Female Celebrant. Most of Helen’s work is arranging and conducting personalised marriage celebrations, however she cannot legally marry anyone. A celebrant has a variety of roles conducting various secular ceremonies such as funerals, baby naming, renewal of vows, or milestone events such as retirement or special anniversaries. During her talk Helen mentioned various ‘marriage’ ceremonies from the past such as Handfasting and showed us how it was done and the significance of the ribbon, actions and finally ‘tying the knot’

During our AGM on Wednesday we will be electing the committee for April 2024 - March 2025. We thank Julia for all her hard work in keeping our accounts in order. Debbie Kinsella has kindly offered to join the committee as Treasurer
Craft Corner
Our knitter and crocheters have been working on a very short charity project to make poppies for the charity Standing with Giants, who have planned to install 1475 silhouettes across the wild meadow fields of the British Normandy Memorial called ‘For your Tomorrow’. The poppies that we make will be used to surround the silhouettes at Nelson Fort in Southampton to mark the 80th anniversary of the D-day landings.

Book Group
This Month's book was The Vintage Shop of second chances by Libby Page, who seems to be our favoured author for a light, ‘warm fuzzy’ read (to quote Jenny!). We all enjoyed the book, although some people thought that parts of the plot were a little far fetched and contrived. The book scored 7.5
