Roundup
For our May meeting we were visited by a Sheffield TV celebrity Howard Middleton,
a former contestant on ‘Bake Off’. Howard is a very humorous speaker, who told us
about his total experience of being a contestant.
Ladies of the Forge do Bake Off: We had an impressive number and variety of
bakes in our very own competition. Howard was kind enough to judge our entries,
taking time to look closely at each one and have a small taste.

3rd Prize - Penny Bradbury

Book Group
Our monthly book group is always lovely and entertaining. This month's book was Charlotte
Gray by Sebastian Faulks. Whilst we all appreciated that the author is a clever writer, it was a
long hard book to get into with too much detail. The main character- Charlotte was not a likeable character. The ending was weak and predictable. The book sparked some discussions of our families and their recounts of WW1 and WW2 and made us wonder how many future generations will remember the importance of the wars. The book scored 5.5/10
June - Miss Benson's Beetle by Rachel Joyce
July - The Defence by Steve Cavanagh
August - A three dog problem by S J Bennett
