Meeting Roundup
In January we were visited by Gill Cosford from Clay Creations. Gill makes lovely things from clay such as small ornaments and jewelry. She demonstrated how she creates different shapes and effects using
different coloured clay, which then can be dried in the oven or air fryer. Her designs are all original and she sells them at craft fairs, and has 3 shop outlets in Barnsley, Pennistone and Sheffield {city centre). She also runs workshops and often goes into schools and different organisations to give talks or workshops.
Next meeting is Wednesday 5 February - Welbeck Brewery with tastings!

Some more Trauma Bears have departed to go to Sheffield Families Court with Heather’s daughter. These bears are given to children attending the court to hold and cuddle to help them feel more secure. At present we have around 105 little hats for The Big Knit for Age UK,
closing date is July 2025. We continue to look ahead to next winter’s Christmas markets and
will continue to produce scarves, hats and fingerless mittens for sale.
Next meeting: Monday 3 February - 7.30 Robin Hood Pub Millhouses.
All Craft and Natter dates for 2025 are available on the Events Calendar on the front page of The Forge website
Book Group
January’s book was Killing Time by Alan Bennett. Some of us could hear the voice of
Alan from his TV appearances as we read the book. The book did have some of his
humour in it in places. However some people felt it had no substance, no character
development and a depressing storyline.
The book scored 3.5/10 again, a very low score being the worst yet! (lowest was December with only 4).
Next meeting Wednesday 19 February 7.30 Laycocks - Intermezzo by Sally
Rooney.
Book Group meetings - 3rd Wednesday of the month, 7.30pm at Laycocks Sports Club. For full details see Upcoming Books
