About the Event
Steve will lead us on this walk. A £5 cash donation is payable on the night towards Weston Park hospital.
Industry in the Moss Valley can trace its origins back to the early 1500’s. There are coal seams present in the area, which have been mined over the years. The area was particularly noted for production of sickles and scythes for agricultural use. Today, we shall follow The River Moss from Ford Dam to the Seldom Seen Engine House and back, discovering along the way some of the relics from the valley’s industrial past. The walk is approximately 3 miles (5km) long, and has uphill and downhill sections.
The meeting point for the Moss Valley Meander is the Ford Wheel Dam Car Park, Ridgeway Moor, Sheffield S12 3XY.
The Entrance to the Car Park is next to the Bungalow, before the Bridge Inn
